Why not let technology help you achieve your goals, big and small or create new habits for all of your personal and professional desires. Apps are my answer to the change game. The problem with making any change in your life is life.
Life can and does get tin the way. In order to be successful with any change in your life, you’ll need to be reminded of your goals and new habits. Technology has created a number advantageous apps to increase your success rate. What I like about having an app on your phone is the ability to be reminded as frequently as you want. There are a number of apps out there for you to choose from. You may need to try them out to test drive which one works best for you and your style.
Here are several apps that I use and encourage my executive and coaching clients to download.
1. Habit List for IOS Devices
Habit List looks good and is fun to use. It’s reminders are flexible and adjustable. The calendar view gives you a report card of what you’ve done or didn’t do. It’s a real life snapshot of how you are doing in creating a new habit.
2. HabitRPG for IOS and Android
HabitRPG treats your habits development like a game. You win points or receive instant gratification when you check of a to do task or check in after doing something. If you forget about your habits and fall into your bad habit, you loose points. This app is fun and believes change should be fun and enjoyable.
3. Goal Streak for IOS devices
Goal Streak is very flexible and easy to schedule daily, 3x week or weekly. Again, this app gives you a report card, which is one of my big criteria for a goal setting app. I like being able to loos at a snapshot over the past week or month of my success. This visual allows you to readjust your thinking or approach to developing this new habit or goal. Habit Streak is the Android version of Goal Streak.
4. Goals On Track
Goals On Track allows you to keep your goals organized and the steps you need to achieve each of them. This app allows you see the steps and check them off as you finish them. The visual of getting closer to accomplishing your goals is motivating and helps keep you on track.
Evernote is an app that I use to house my list of goals and all the steps I plan for achievement. My list includes boxes to check off after accomplisments and random notes about each goal. The settings or reminders are adjustable, whether it you need a reminder for next week, three month later or due by the last quarter of the year. This app syncs with all of my devices, allowing me to work from anywhere at any time. I additionally use this app for many other documents to run my business.
No one app is perfect for everyone. It is user dependent and takes a little bit of time to set up. Give them a try and figure out which one is best for you and your situation. I believe we have the technology to help us achieve goals and create new habits easier.
